How to choose your permanent makeup technician
THEME: PERMANENT MAKEUP vs. TECHNICIAN
Permanent makeup is currently in vogue. All over the world, we hear about it! Mostly for the good, but sometimes for the bad. Why is this?
It is important to understand that this technique has been around for a long time. And as in any field, the evolution is following its normal course. Can we say the same about micropigmentation techniques? Yes, but not for the majority of people. (Like micropigmentation, permanent makeup is offered by different types of technicians. The important thing is to be vigilant to find the one that will give you the best result that meets your expectations).
Training in permanent make-up for a natural result
Some technicians, who learned permanent makeup more than 20 years ago, offer services without updating their techniques. The result? Bar-coded hairs, eyeliner that has migrated to the outer corner of the eye… Or even brown lip contours that are too far from the natural contour of the mouth! Perhaps you also remember your grandmother’s famous eyebrows, which have turned purple? Chances are that these permanent make-up were done by technicians who were trained several years ago and who didn’t believe in perfecting their skills on a regular basis.
This is why La Station Beauté wanted to offer training: we want to train the next generation with the latest techniques available on the market and that advocate a natural result. Yes yes, it is possible! That’s why we import here, in Quebec, techniques coming from all over the world: Italy, France, Russia, Israel, Los Angeles, London, Bosnia, etc. Now, we also have the chance to work with better quality pigments. This allows us to offer a reduced outfit, in order to modify the look of our pigmentation to the rhythm of fashions and preferences.
In short, our goal is to restore the image of permanent makeup. Techniques are not what they used to be! Eyebrows are natural, lips are raised, eyes are underlined with a delicate and flattering line. This is the beauty of quality permanent makeup.
How do you choose your technician before making the big leap to permanent makeup?
You want to take the plunge? Here are a few tips to help you find your technician. First of all, make sure she has been trained in permanent makeup. Ask her to see her diplomas to confirm her competence in this field. Also confirm that your technician has insurance. Above all, don’t be shy: it’s your face after all!
Also check out her workplace. Is it clean? Is it well lit? Does she use sterile, single-use needles? Does it take a new needle for your touch-up? Is the trash can emptied between each client? It is important to make sure that the premises are clean and sanitary to avoid infection.
Go to his professional page as well. What do other clients say? What are your technician’s answers? How professional is she in her communication? AND MOST IMPORTANT: Can you see pictures of her permanent makeup work? If you don’t see any pictures or if you do NOT identify yourself with her work, SAVE YOURSELF! You won’t get this chance twice.
Finally, when you choose a technician, it is not important that she has many years of experience. Some beginners work 1000x better than those with decades of experience. The important thing is that you feel confident. This is why you must do your homework and make sure that your wishes can be fulfilled with the technician you have chosen. You must be able to identify with her work.
Because permanent makeup is an art worth shopping around for. Not the price (it’s obvious since it’s your face, isn’t it?), but the work that will be done according to the technician chosen.
Good luck in your research!
